I’m at least 10 years old and weigh almost 6 pounds now, I only weighed 3 pounds when I came to the shelter. I still have a few teeth left after my dental.  You see, I wasn’t taken care of by my people and they left me on a sidewalk with a mouth full of bad teeth and an ulcerated eye.  A nice person found me in front of their house and brought me to the shelter. How did they know I didn’t escape? Because I still can’t “walk” more than a few wobbly feet by myself after almost a month in foster with foster mom.

The vet pulled some teeth and they were so rotten they left big holes in my jaw, the front two canines in my lower jaw were so icky they ate away the whole front of my lower jaw.  I had to have my eye removed because it was beyond repair.  There was an infected open would and the lens was lying sideways in my eye.  It was very painful and my eye had probably been like that for a long time.  I also have some neurological problems with my front leg on that side, the vet thinks I was probably bitten by a bigger dog.

My former life might be hard to forget, but I have almost doubled my weight since coming to foster mom’s house. My muscles were atrophied and I was really weak. I could barely lift my head a month ago.  The picture is of me going from lying down to sitting up all on my own! Foster mom makes me do stand-ups three times a day and I’m getting really good at it.  I can stand on my own for over 10 seconds now.  I love to be held and have cuddles on foster mom’s lap.  We don’t know how long I have left, but I’m happy and healthier than I was.  I will forever have a place in my foster mom’s home and heart.
